Activities of the Ashrama along the lines laid down by Swami Vivekananda – "Atmano Mokshartham Jagadhitaya cha" or "for the liberation of self & welfare of the world."
A 2-day programme on 12th and 13th of January 2013 was organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Belgaum to commemorate the start of the 150th Birth Anniversary year of Swami Vivekananda and also mark the Consecration of the Universal Temple of Sri Ramakrishna in the Ashrama (consecrated in January 2004).
Over 1500 college students from Belgaum participated in this event held at the Ashrama and listened to the message of Swami Vivekananda as espoused by the learned speakers.
The topics (in Kannada) included:
‘Values for the Youth of today – as espoused by Swamiji’
‘Relevance of Swami Vivekananda to the Youth’
‘Bold thoughts & Bolder deeds – Swamiji’s solution to modern problems’.
Talent show by prize winning students of competitions conducted by the Ashrama from December 12-18, 2012. Prizes were distributed to the winners of these competitions. Scholarships to 5 selected 10th Standard toppers from Govt. Schools in Belgaum district were distributed on this occasion.
A dance ballet & play whose narrative provides glimpses of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage and wisdom.
About 1000 devotees and members of the public participated in this event held at the Ashrama. The speakers spoke about Swami Vivekananda and the relevance of his message to the society of today. The topics included ‘Swamiji’s guidance/message for householders’, ‘Bhakti – its extent/expanse’ and ‘Swamiji’s love for the country’.

6.30 to 8.30 pm – by Pandit Shekhar Kumbhojkar of Pune
