Visit of Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to inform you that Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj (Senior Trustee of the Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission and Head of the Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai) will be visiting Belgaum from 21st to 26th April 2014. Revered Swamiji will be giving spiritual initiation (Mantra Deeksha) to interested devotees who have registered themselves in advance.

Revered Swamiji will be available for darshan for devotees and members of the public at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Fort, Belgaum every evening during these days (7:15 pm).

We heartily welcome you to take this opportunity and benefit from the holy presence of Revered Swamiji in Belgaum.

Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj

Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj had the good fortune of coming into contact with the Late Revered Swami Yatiswaranandaji Maharaj, then Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Order in 1951 and was initiated by him in 1955. He was ordained into Sannyasa in 1966 by the Late Revered Swami Vireswaranandaji Maharaj, 10th President of the Ramakrishna Order.

He has worked among the tribals in Meghalaya, in Arunachal Pradesh and in Chattisgard (Bastar Dt.) for about 20 years and has tried to bring the tribals into the mainstream of National life through value based yet modern education. He has also worked in the Mission’s Bombay, Calcutta, Raipur and Narainpur Centres. From 1991 he was the in-charge of the Saradapitha, Belur Math, a vast complex of several educational colleges and technical institutions. He took charge as President (Adhyaksha) of the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, in April 1995.

He is proficient in English, Sanskrit, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Bengali. He speaks and writes on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda philosophy and on Indian culture. Swamiji has travelled widely outside India also to preach Vedanta.
